What is Little World Citizens?

Little World Citizens is a virtues-based class for young children, ages 3-5, to attend with an adult caregiver. The purpose of the class is to aid preschoolers in developing spiritual qualities, called virtues, like love, purity of heart, kindness, obedience, respect, cleanliness and more.

During the class, the children will learn songs and quotations based on the virtue of the week. They will hear stories, play games and make arts and crafts that help reinforce the weekly virtue. They will also learn simple prayers. The source of the prayers and quotes used during class are from the Baha'i Writings, which teach:

Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom. - Baha'u'llah
The children will not be inculcated with religious doctrine. The primary purpose of the class is to focus on the development of understanding and practice of applying universal spiritual concepts to their lives, teachings of which can be found in all of the major religions. Parents are encouraged to bring or share writings, teachings, stories or songs from other cultural and religious backgrounds to reinforce what is being learned and shared during the class.

Who can attend?

These classes are free and open to all members of the community regardless of your background. The ideal age for the program is between 3-5 years but siblings are more than welcome to attend. Since the children are very young, an adult caregiver must be present at all times to help the flow of the class.

Where are the classes taught?

The classes are taught at a teacher's home in the Bryn Mawr-Skyway neighborhood, which borders Renton, Tukwila and southeast Seattle.

About the Teachers

They are a bi-cultural, multi-lingual husband and wife team with two young preschool/pre-K boys, who will also attend the weekly class.  For the safety of the community, all of the children's class teachers have passed a thorough background check, which can be provided/verified upon request.
